I am once again diving into a project by creating a website first.
Here is the plan though, so you know:
I am going to be setting up a block of time where you can sign up for a half hour photo session. You can claim yours via the google calendar here. The first set of sessions will be from 11:00am to 2:00pm, July 9th at Rio Rita. We will hang out and chat for a while and then we will make some photos together. I am asking for a donation of $25, but pay what you can. I’d rather make photos than worry about the money angle. You will be getting photos for personal use on the web or wherever, I’ll be getting the opportunity to hang out with you and refine my photography. It will be a chance for us to collaborate on an art project.
To borrow the words of Richard Avedon:
A photographic portrait is a picture of someone who knows he’s being photographed, and what he does with this knowledge is as much a part of the photograph as what he’s wearing or how he looks. He’s implicated in what’s happening, and he as a certain real power over the result.
